Today is Earth Day! And to celebrate we should all remember to
Reduce, Reuse, and
Recycle! We started this "Recycle for Madi" fundraiser last year & have tried to spread the news to a few friends & family who live locally, and so far it's been a success. It's very easy, fun, & for a great cause. For those of you who don't already recycle, we try to encourage you to do so by saving all of your aluminum cans & empty plastic water bottles for us. We'll provide bags & reminder stickers & free pick up ( So.Cal ). Mama Cari has been in charge of this program for us & she's been awesome. We are also so very grateful to those who have decided to join in on the fun. We have literally gotten truckloads of recyclables at a time from a very good friend who collects them at work, just awesome.& For those of you who already recycle, you can still participate by donating a bag or two or even helping out for a few months. You'd be surprised how many bags you can collect at work...picnics...parties etc. Again, all of the proceeds from this will (one day) benefit the orphanage of where little "Madi" will come from. The CCAA has recently increased the required orphanage donation from $3,500 to $6,000 ( which is a lot of money in China ). So this money helps the orphanage with things like heaters, air units, cribs, in addition to paying for several nanny salaries for an entire year. ( Average annual salaries per nanny is just under $1,000 ).
I will have all of this info on our new adoption site ( coming soon ) under fundraising. But for now, you may contact us if you'd like to participate ( marsi@kmdezine.com ).
