A Much Needed Getaway.

A few months ago, I won a Borders gift card at a seminar & the first thing I thought of getting was this book "Weekend Sewing" from a fabulous fabric designer Heather Ross, that I absolutely love. There's plenty of projects that any avid sewer can make, & it even comes with all of the patterns. Heather lives and also teaches in New York & is also known for holding many weekend sewing getaways in Vermont......which one day I hope to be able visit. But most recently she announced that she would be visiting Northern California prior to Labor Day weekend, not only to promote her book but to hold a mini workshop as well. So as soon as I heard this, I was thrilled to be able to plan for a small trip to Santa Cruz, while also planning to take advantage of this trip to visit family who lives nearby. We're thinking of spending at least a whole day or two in San Francisco experiencing as much as we can, and checking out it's famous China Town where we can only daydream about going to China someday soon. Speaking of China.......we have been experiencing a few glitches in renewing our homestudy-renewal paperwork. But it will definitely have to wait for a future post. We've both been a little stressed out not to mention financially drained, and overall just slightly frustrated with all of this paperwork renewal stuff......more physicals, more financial reviews, more backround checks, more money etc. And all of this is really for the U.S. sake, not necessarily for China. But like I said, I will have to leave it for another upcoming post. For now.....it's off to Santa Cruz!
